Wheeling Australia - the Giant Loop
I have been on a roundtrip
in Australia together with my manual wheelchair for almost 9 months. The red
line on the map is the route I have traveled, which adds up to 43.377
kilometers.
Australia is a fantastic
country with a lot of things to offer. You don't have the time to see
everything, but have to choose
from the enourmous spectre. Amongst other things I have seen the red rock,
striped rocks and totally round rocks. I have seen blue mountains and black
mountains, white beaches, orange beaches
and a beach of seashells. I have visited the three sisters, the twelve
apostles and a unknown number of pinnacles. I have flown with birds and swum
with the fish.
I rented a car with hand
controls from Wheelabout and I have
mostly been staying at youth hostels. Below you will find a
list of
accessible accomodation I can recommend.

Appendix I:
Wheelchair friendly backpacker accomodation
I have stayed in
dormitories at these backpacker hostels. With "wheelchair friendly" I mean
level access to main areas and disabled toilet/shower. One bed in a dorm
room costs approximately AUD $ 20-30. There are seasonal variations.
Most of the hostels on
